Armenian Medical Association


Armenian Medical Association (AMA) was founded in 2002, as a union of physicians, medical-biological sciences and public health professionals. AMA ( is an independent, non- profit, non-governmental organization which aims to promote to the postgraduate education in Armenia, to organize medical-medico biological scientific researches and to promote to the implementation of innovative medical approaches and technologies in Armenia, to protect the rights and interests of doctors and patients.

The main objective of AMA is to promote to the development of medical science and practical medicine in Armenia and to the development of healthcare system appropriate to the modern standards.

To achieve this objective the Association has set a number of primary issues, one of which is to supports to the development of medicine in RA regions. For this purpose, AMA clinical committee organizes regular clinical visits in different regions. During these visits the most vulnerable population groups get a chance to have free medical examination, consultation and dynamic control for the future. They are preceded by preparatory activities of regional healthcare institutions, which inform to the people about prepared visit through local media, prepare the list of needed professionals and make waiting list.

At the same time clinical committee organizes scientific seminars and “Round table talks” for the Regional Committee with the participation of leading specialists of the state, about modern methods of treatment of various diseases. During these events the representatives of pharmaceutical companies which cooperate with the Association are also presenting their reports. Such cooperation allows establishing more useful and close professional contacts between the doctors from Yerevan and regions. The doctors are provided with relevant free literature published by the support of British “Friends of Armenia” charitable organization, about modern schemes of treatment and the application of modern medicines of a number of diseases.

In addition, the Clinical Committee regularly organizes “Round table talks” for the doctors of various medical clinics of Yerevan. The purpose of these activities is to discuss the urgent issues of that moment within the narrow framework (with the participation about 30-40 doctors).
